Dr. Carmen García Sánchez is MA in Architecture and Ph.D. in Architectural Design from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. She is an experienced practicing architect an affiliated researcher at the Danish National Research Foundation Centre for Privacy Studies (since 2024), University of Copenhagen. She has recently conducted her study Nature-In as a Postdoctoral Researcher at The Royal Danish Academy _ Architecture  Design Conservation (2020-2024), after winning an individual Marie Skłodowska-Curie research grant.  Nature-In provides sustainable practical resources to increase human contact with nature through the experience of the architectural space.

She teaches Ephemeral Architecture (theory and practice) at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (since 2025) and have taught Spatial Design and Scientific/Theoretical Writing to MA Architecture and Design students at KADK (2020-2024). Previously, she taught Architectural Design at the School of Architecture at UPM (2017-2020). Her exploration of innovative educational methodologies establishes her as an original educator.  Her exploration of innovative educational methodologies establishes her as a pioneering educator. She has experience teaching subjects such as the history of Nordic and Japanese architecture, architectural design, biophilic design, and reflections on domestic and workspaces. Having developed a strong national and international network, she has built bridges between institutions, bringing new visibility to Europe (including Spain and Denmark) and Japan. In addition, she has a strong publication record in international high-ranking peer-reviewed conference proceedings and journals.

In recognition of her significant research, she presented her work, Nature-In, at the EU pavilion at the Osaka World Expo 2025 in Japan, opening the “Health and Wellbeing Week”.

She is a member of the external censor corps for artistic higher education in Denmark and an external scientific expert and advisor for the European Commission, including the New European Bauhaus.
