Marie Louise Roed Rasmussen, MD, PhD, is a senior consultant ophthalmologist and clinical associate professor at the University of Copenhagen. Her expertise includes orbital, lacrimal, and eyelid diseases, with additional interests in ocular surface pathology, pediatric ophthalmology and allergy-related eye disease, teleophthalmology and artificial intelligence in eye care. Dr. Rasmussen has led and contributed to national and international research projects, guidelines, and educational programs. Furthermore, she is working on the advancement of digital and AI-driven solutions in ophthalmology.

She is actively involved in professional societies and committees (AAO; SOE; ESOPRS; APAO; NOK) and works closely with leading international researchers across Europe and North America. Dr. Rasmussen is recognized for initiating and coordinating educational activities, lectures, and workshops focused on residency training and competency-based curriculum development.

She has received several awards, including the Mark Tso ICO Golden Apple Award and recognitions from the American Academy of Ophthalmology. As an active contributor to scientific publishing and peer review, Dr. Rasmussen demonstrates high commitment to cross-disciplinary collaboration and the promotion of evidence-based patient care. Her leadership style is grounded in formal, respectful communication and intergenerational teaching in health professions education.
