Peter Bytzer is a Clinical Professor Emeritus of Gastroenterology and Hepatology and Deputy Head of the Department of Clinical Medicine. He graduated from the University of Southern Denmark as a medical doctor (MD) in 1981 and earned his Ph.D. in gastroenterology in 1993. He is a board-certified specialist in General Internal Medicine and in Gastroenterology and Hepatology.

Primary fields of research

Dr. Bytzer’s research is primarily focused on acid-related diseases and functional GI disorders. His areas of interest include H. pylori infection, epidemiology, GI endoscopy, proton pump inhibitors and faecal microbiota.

Dr. Bytzer serves on the Danich National Medical Research Ethics Committee.

Dr. Bytzer serves as advisory member in the Kirsten and Freddy Johansen Clinical Prize committee.
