Pia R. Kamstrup, MD PhD DMSc, is a Clinical Professor of Clinical Biochemistry with special focus on genetically determined heritable hyperlipidemia. In addition to her professorship at the Department of Clinical Medicine, she heads the Department of Clinical Biochemistry at Copenhagen University Hospital - Herlev and Gentofte.

Dr. Kamstrup conducts research within the field of genetic epidemiology working with large general population studies; she is on the steering committees for the Copenhagen General Population Study (N~150000) and the Copenhagen Baby Heart Study (N~25000). Her research explores the genetic background of cardiovascular disease with a strong focus on genetically determined high lipoprotein(a) and the associated morbidity and mortality.
