Dr. Pradeesh Sivapalan is a Clinical Associate Professor and Pulmonologist whose research centers on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), with a focus on corticosteroid treatment, biomarkers, and lung infections. He has led numerous clinical trials and epidemiological studies, with findings featured in high impact journals such as The Lancet Respiratory Medicine and Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA). 

Dr. Sivapalan has made pivotal contributions to the understanding of COPD, particularly in refining treatment strategies and developing novel biomarkers to enhance diagnosis and patient outcomes.

As a co-founder of COP:TRIN, a research network with over 100 investigators, Dr. Sivapalan has been instrumental in fostering collaboration and advancing COPD research. His academic journey includes earning his PhD in 2019 with a thesis on personalized therapeutic approaches to systemic corticosteroid therapy and his appointment as Associate Professor in 2023.

Dr. Sivapalan’s leadership roles include serving as a member of the Ethics Committee, the national lead for the Alpha-1 Deficiency Registry in Denmark, and co-leader at the COP:RESP Respiratory Research Unit. He is also a board member of the Lung Association (Lungeforeningen) and the Research Committee of the Lung Foundation.

Through his extensive research and leadership, Dr. Sivapalan continues to shape innovative approaches in pulmonary medicine, improving clinical practices and patient care globally.
