Personal profile

Short presentation

I work as Assistant Professor at the Centre for Internationalisation and Parallel Language Use (CIP) at the University of Copenhagen. My academic work analyses the role of language in social processes that perpetuate or challenge various forms of inequity along axes of gender, social class, and nationality in multilingual contexts shaped by immigration.

Over the past eight years, I have developed expertise in linguistic ethnographic approaches to analysing (i) the interplay between language ideologies, language practices and affect in multilingual households, (ii) media discourses on speech styles associated with youth and urban spaces, (iii) multilingual linguistic practices in online teaching and learning in higher education, and (iv) the role of language in the educational trajectory of secondary school students with an immigrant background. Centring methodological and theoretical innovation, these projects have resulted in various single and co-authored articles and book chapters in high-ranking academic outlets.

Prior to joining CIP, I worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at UiT The Arctic University of Norway (2022 - 2024) and at the University of Oslo (2020 - 2023). I received my PhD in Sociolinguistics from the University of Oslo (UiO) in 2020.
I maintain my collaboration with colleagues from UiT and UiO as Guest Researcher at both institutions.
