Primary fields of research
Science Education, Science Centres, Technology for inquiry, Self-efficacy
Short presentation
My research interests revolve around science teacher education. They include...
- the role of the control belief of 'self-efficacy' in the success of both teaching and learning science with inquiry;
- formative assessment in facilitating teaching and learniing of inquiry based science;
- use of technology by students and teachers for experiencing science process in both school and out-of-school settings.
My teaching responsibilities include courses concerning advanced science teaching methods and university pedagogy as well as special workshops in inquiry, argumentation, introduction to PhD study and writing for journals.
My development activities include faculty workshops in supervision of PhD students and constructivistic course design and implementation in Afica.
My current projects are..
- PICoSTE (Promotion of Instructional Coherence through Science Teacher Education) with four other Baltic region universities.
-CSRC (Cyprus Science and Research Centre) working towards establishing a new centre.
