RELEVANT SCIENTIFIC SKILLS
Animal manipulation of rodents (FELASA ABD certificate no. ABD-F032/10/21-8), maintenance of transgenic colonies, handling of ALS and PD models, microsurgery (neonatal and adult), phenotyping and genotyping, behavioural testing and locomotor analysis, non-invasive analysis with IVIS. DNA and RNA handling, spatial transcriptomic techniques including RNAscope in situ hybridization, CARTANA/10X Genomics in situ sequencing, and Nanostring spatial profiling. Primary and stem cell culture, in vitro differentiation of stem cells. Conventional histology. Flow cytometry. Imaging and data analysis, R programming.
I am a PhD fellow in Kiehn and Allodi Laboratories of the Department of Neuroscience, studying spinal interneuron dysfunction in ALS pathophysiology. While the first part of my project uncovered the early loss of inhibitory pre-motor inputs in ALS and its consequences for locomotor phenotype, I am currently focused on describing the temporal dynamics of spinal interneuron dysregulation in the disease from a transcriptomic point of view. For this purpose, I make use of several multiplexing techniques, including RNAscope HiPlexUp in situ hybridization, spatial transcriptomics, and bioinformatic analysis.
