Personal profile

Current research

Animal law: Broad research into animal law, including how different ethical positions are reflected in animal legislation. Current topics include the legal representation of animals in various contexts (criminal and civil litigation, administrative law, a possible animal ombudsman, etc.). Currently, I also take part in the ambitious project, ANIMALAW, which is an interdisciplinary study of Danish animal welfare offences in animal transport. We investigate how broader societal conceptualisations of human-animal relations interact with specific veterinary knowledge when animal welfare cases are decided upon in Danish courtrooms. The research, which aims to provide a unique insight into the interdependencies of legislation, animal welfare and biological expertise, is financed by an interdisciplinary grant from the Independent Research Fund Denmark.

Digital management: What is the legal framework for digitalisation in the public sector? Currently, the focus is on the underlying legal principles and values on which the authorities must (or should) base their use of digital systems, insofar as there are limited authoritative sources of law that address the issues in question. A particular focus point is the use of machine learning and other types of AI, e.g. the prospect of AI judges.
