Primary fields of research

My main research area is the way relationships and communities are rhetorically constituted, managed, and negotiated in everyday interactions. I am particularly interested in issues of pluralism and conviviality, namely, how differences plays in to the rhetorical milieu of peoples' everyday lives. I have taken a particular interest in these subjects:

  • How to account for pluralism in rhetorical theory and criticism.
  • Rhetorical ambiguity in political leadership
  • Community formation in popular & online culture
  • Humor and satire

Current research

I am currently working on:

  • Internordic rhetorical relationships online
  • Perceived polarization in Swedish media discourse
  • Joking vernacular rhetoric on the Swedish NATO application process

Teaching

I am currently teaching Rhetorical Theory and Analysis and Rhetorical Writing, Language and Style , as well as the MA thesis seminar.

I have previously taught courses on practical rhetoric, rhetorical criticism, debate culture and public rhetoric, Public Relations communication, and death studies.

I have supervised at the BA-, MA- and Ph.D level, among other things on these subjects:
