Manufacturing and clinical use of PET radiopharmaceuticals - Huynh Group

Our group is located at the Department of Nuclear Medicine, Herlev Hospital, University of Copenhagen, Denmark. We develop and manufacture PET radiopharmaceuticals in close collaboration with the physicians for diagnosis of cancers and neurological diseases, and to investigate abnormalities in organs. In addition, development of radiopharmaceuticals for treatment of prostate cancer is also conducted in the group.

Primary fields of research

Research Focus

Our projects focus primarily on research and development of radiopharmaceuticals for clinical applications, using mainly carbon-11 and fluorine-18 PET nuclides for labeling.

  • Development of PET tracers for diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease, primary hyperaldosteronism, and parathyroid adenoma.
  • Optimization of PET tracers for imaging and treatment of prostate cancer.
  • New methodologies with clinical relevance to the field of PET radiochemistry.
  • Production of radioisotopes.

If you are looking for a master project within the mentioned projects and would like to work in a hospital and close to patients, you are welcome to contact me.

Teaching

GMP in Practice

Production of radiopharmaceuticals for human use is performed under Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). GMP experience is therefore highly relevant, and many companies require this competence from their employees. Thus, if you are interested in a GMP internship to learn about GMP in practice, then you are welcome to contact me.
