Personal profile

Short presentation

My research focuses on mental health and psychosocial support interventions for people who have experienced adversity. I am particularly interested in integrated (multi-sectoral) interventions that combine activities to address the social determinants of mental health (e.g., gender-based violence, poverty) and psychological interventions. I am a Professor in Global Mental Health at the Section for Global Health, Department of Public Health, University of Copenhagen, Denmark; Extraordinary Professor in Global Mental Health and Social Justice at the Athena Research Institute, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and Arq International, the Netherlands; Adjunct Professor at the Department of Mental Health, Bloomberg School of Public Health, Baltimore, MD, USA; and Senior Technial Advisor with the non-governmental organization HealthRight International. I am interested in bringing research into practice, and practice into research.
