Abstract

The chin is a fundamental part of completing the facial harmony and balance and genioplasty is the art of surgical correction performed due to aesthetic or medical reasons. AI is the simulation of human intelligence by machines. Several important subdisciplines of artificial intelligence have been used in maxillofacial surgeries. Of those, machine learning (ML) and a subbranch of ML called deep learning (DL) have been scarcely assessed in chin-related feature detection and genioplasty outcome prediction. In this chapter, the current and potential uses of AI in facial plastic surgeries and more specifically in chin-related surgeries are reviewed. In addition, the current limitations and future trends of AI in this field are highlighted.
