Abstract
The facile removal of the cyanide anion from cyanide-containing water was achieved by the use of CO 2 in conjunction with aldehydes which can be recycled from the process. The conversion of the cyanide ion to an insoluble cyanohydrin in water allowed for the removal of cyanide and could be used as a method of treating cyanide contaminated wastewater and of recovering cyanide or cyanohydrins for further applications.
