Abstract

A dendrimer is a molecular architecture leading to macromolecules that in size and shape are similar to globular proteins having a spherical structure with a large number of surface groups as well as internal cavities. Size is an important factor for biological properties such as half-life in the blood stream, modes of excretion, and cellular trafficking and given that dendrimers cover a size range of 1-10nm as well as being able to form self-assembled structures, gives a wide pallet for using dendrimers for drug delivery in medicine.
