Abstract

The effects of internal molecular motions on the average orientation of molecules in anisotropic fluids may be described by kinetics as well as equilibrium statistical mechanics. The magnetic resonance of partially oriented molecules is equally well described by models based on either of the two equivalent approaches. However, a model based on kinetic parameters is more readily related to accessible experimental data.
