Abstract

Whole-ecosystem manipulation is a useful tool for investigating the effects of air pollution, air pollution reduction strategies and management practices on the health and productivity of forests, and has become widely used in forest ecosystem research. This review of the whole-ecosystem manipulation research gives an overview of the recent and ongoing research within this field and synthesizes the results obtained so far.
