Abstract
From 2018-2020, we followed 60 victims of crime from their first meeting with the police till the end of their cases in the justice system, and among others interviewed them at various stages in the process. In this article, we analyze our interviews using Arnold Van Gennep’s and Victor W. Turner’s theoretical framework on rites de passage and the social drama. Our analysis demonstrates how these theories are helpful in unfolding and deepening our understanding of the victims’ experience in the justice system.
