Abstract
Against the grain of recent exegetical trends in Biblical exegesis on St. Paul the article argues for an expressivist reading of the question of free will in G.W.F.Hegel, Friedrich Nietzsche, Martin Luther. This reading is inspired by Robert Pippin and discussed in recent exegetical accounts on the will in St. Paul in Romans 7. Neo-Lacanian interpretations of "death drive" and of "self-relating negativity" are introduced to reopen the theological question of sin and Grace as the horizon for a modern concept of posttraumatic subjectivity.
