title = "Is Discrimination in Immigration Racist?",
abstract = "Discrimination in immigration remains one of the most enduring blind spots of racism globally. It operates in often concealed ways, at the intersection of different sovereignties and branches of the law. It affects persons who have not secured the kind of foothold into a polity that would allow them to plead their rights. In a context where domestic racism has at least become taboo (despite its obvious systemic persistence), transnational racism in the immigration context remains not just widespread but, as I will argue, often legally tolerated because of persistent ambiguities about what constitutes racism.",
